2024 - 2025 FFA Officer Election

Evaluation and selection of Texas City FFA officer candidates are governed by the constitution, bylaws and policies of our respective association within the parameters prescribed by the Texas FFA Constitution, Bylaws and board policies.

Criteria to be able to hold an office:

To hold an office in the Texas City FFA Chapter, the officer must be enrolled in an agricultural science class the year that the office is being held. Failure to do so will result in officer relinquishing that office.

1. All members wishing to seek an office must fill out an application.
2. Officers will be selected based on the following criteria
a. Complete application (20%)
b. Chapter popular vote (20%)
c. Interview with a panel of community members, local agricultural science teachers, and/or school personnel (30%)
d. FFA and Parliamentary Procedure test (30%)
3. All criteria will be totaled, and officers assigned to position according to score
4. In the event of a tie, it will be broken by the popular vote.
5. The candidate will purchase and have in their possession prior to the annual Texas FFA State Convention their own FFA official jacket and the annual officer apparel as discussed and approved by the officer team elect. 
6. The candidate will be required to attend the following meetings, or any other meetings, that may be set by Texas City FFA Advisors: 

a. The monthly FFA meetings 
b. Texas FFA Convention 
c. Officer Retreat 
d. TCFFA Alumni Fundraiser Events
e. TCFFA End of the Year Banquet
7. The candidate will be required to maintain a 2.0 GPA or above to remain in office.
8. The candidate will be required to participate in at least one Leadership Development Event and one Career Development Event during their tenure in office.
9. The candidate will abide by the Texas FFA State Officer Code of Ethics and the Texas City Independent School District Code of Conduct.

 

To run for office, the candidate must meet the minimum qualifications:
1) Complete an officer election application
2) Take a written or online test over parliamentary procedure and the FFA organizational information (taken from Gray’s Parliamentary Guide and Official FFA Manual).
3) Read, agree, and sign a contract of office, which will be supplied by the FFA Advisors. If the contract of office is not received the student shall be ineligible to run for office.
4) Attend an interview with a panel of teachers and/or community leaders.
5) The candidate will be required to run for all offices.
6) The candidate must enroll in one or more Agricultural Science Course(s) for the entire school year for which the candidate will serve as a Texas City FFA Officer.
7) The candidate will be willing to purchase and have in their possession prior to the annual Texas FFA State Convention their own FFA official jacket and the annual officer apparel as discussed and approved by the officer team elect, if elected to office.

 


The Announcement of the 2024 - 2025 Texas City FFA Officers will be announced at the conclusion of the End of The Year Banquet on May 7th, 2024.
